About the IEEE Computer Society @ UWM
Our goal
To encourage education enrichment in computer science and related fields, to broaden students'
awareness, to provide the opportunity for social activities among members and faculty, and to work towards
increasing the reputation of a Computer Science degree from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
Resources
We offer many resources to members. We have a library, which is composed mostly of
computer related books. We have our own computer lab consisting of Windows 2000 and GNU/Linux
workstations. We gladly help members with homework, studying, class advice, and more.
Services
We run a server, which provides connectivity, mail and other resources to all engineering
organizations. We also maintain a printer in the E371 General Org office for all engineering
organizations to use. In conjunction with the
CEAS
office, we offer
tutoring in a variety
of Computer Science subjects to all students, not just Computer Science students.
Activities
The chapter hosts the Computer Science picnic once a year, usually in the Spring, allowing students
and professors to meet informally in a relaxed environment. We are currently looking at hosting
monthly meetings of various usergroups in the Milwaukee area. We also host a linux installation
seminar once or twice a semester. To see the other activities, check the
projects page.
